I have a beautiful 6-stack 240V variac for sale or trade. This was from a
automatic voltage regulator we tore down. We had 2 and built one into the
main single-phase power supply for the lab. Each stack had the variacs
fused at 50A from the factory. This was originally setup as a triple-double
for 3-phase at 100A. We pulled the balance chokes to make one into a
single-six for the lab and the other one is now a clean slate to be setup
any way you wish.
It's massive, motor driven, and beautiful. And I have no need for a pair so
this one is up for grabs. Comes with motor drive, mounting base, and is
ready to be the light-dimmer for your neighborhood. For TC loads (short run
times of a minute or less) you can comfortably overdrive these to 200% (and
much, much more for duty-cycles measured in seconds). I have done some
exceptionally stupid things with big variacs and I have yet to kill one.
