It never ceases to amaze me how people react to an event like this.
99% of people have NO clue when it comes to anything electricity
related. Read an article in the NY Post this morning about the incident.
People thought it was (in no particular order) A terrorist attack, alien
invasion, Nuke attack by N Korea (REALLY?), end of the world, etc.
People panicked & loaded up their cars & fled. One guy was out in front
of his home brandishing a Samurai sword.
After 3 seconds of video, the first thing I thought of was Con
Edison. Must have sounded really great. What surprised me was that the
OCR's on the 138 KV transmission lines didn't trip. Isn't a plasma arc
basically a short circuit?
