a) unlike a NST, this isn't current limitedb) they're built tough.. unlike an NST, you can do full rated voltage forever (and then some).. They often have a BIL of much higher voltage than the output rating. c) you can run them at greater than rated current for a short time.. as long as it doesn't overheat.
