Re: [TCML] Rotary gap electrode holders
Colin,
I made a srsg using a modified 1/3 hp 1750rpm motor. See Bart's page , think he called it hellicopter style ( probably got name wrong am lexicon challenged at times! ).
Anyway, am using 4 stationary holders ( 3/4" x 4" ) drill for .25" x 1" tungsten inserts and drilled and tapped 5/16" on other end to through bolt with brass bolts.
The spinning rod is 1/4x7" tungsten. A plexiglass shroud or plywood is highly suggested. After many hours of use have had no problem with heating or vibration and the Freu phase control made an almost miraculas improvement. I have a extra ohmite VT4N var.tran. if you need one.
This desighn was the
simplest for me to construct.

Hello All,
I am building a new gap at present and looking to use 4mm tungsten. I am torn between 2 designs open to other suggestions. I am thinking of brass nuts and bolts with grub screws to fold tungsten or tungsten inside Ali sleeve/collet then grub screw through rotor onto split collet.
I was also looking at brass rods then threaded tungsten inserts or soldered on.
Cheers,
Colin
