The plastic is polycarbonate. If you put a CD into a microwave and nuke it, there is a very pretty light show for a few seconds. Any more and the plastic really starts to stink and warp. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polycarbonate It softens at 260°F and melts at 311°F Very low Young's Modulus -- 2-4GPa (weak) Pine wood is 9GPa, Fiberglass is 40-45GPa, Iron is 200GPa Plan something else because this will fail -- it will fly apart the first time you apply power...
