I would say that CDs would be the worst material to make a RSG out of; They are brittle, the crack easy and don’t stand up to heat. When you get to drilling holes for the electrodes, the CDs would probably crack! Also the very thin layer of aluminum on them would not all come off, I think you would end up with thin pieces of conductive material all over and conductive dust.
