The power gap between SGTC and SSTC has been gone since the invention
of the DRSSTC. For a while there was quite a price gap between DRSSTC
and SGTC, but lately that seems to be narrowing.
As to the peak currents, in general the peak currents you find in a
SGTC of a given size are considerably lower than those you find in a
DRSSTC of a similar size. There are many DRSSTCs that running tank
currents well in excess of 1kA these days.
