Re: [TCML] DC Cox
I was saddened to hear of DC's passing.
In his earlier years, DC was a significant contributor to the growth of
Tesla Coiling knowledge as can be seen by his many publications and
articles in the TCBA Newsletter. He knew countless "tricks of the trade"
for making reliable high voltage systems that are still in use in
museums and science centers across the world. In his later years, he
began to see amateur coilers less as potential competitors, becoming
friends with many in the widening coiling community brought about by
bulletin boards and the Internet. An older, mellower DC aided many a
budding coiler, while sharing technical and hard-won practical design
information with experienced coilers on and off the TCML. DC had hoped
to condense the practical knowledge he had accumulated through the years
into a Tesla Coiling book. Unfortunately, his worsening medical
condition severely limited his physical and technical activities, while
also reducing the level of business that he could support. DC never
complained about the hand he was dealt. And, he never gave up his
passion for coiling and high voltage even towards the end.
He will be missed.
