[TCML] 572b vttc

Well i got my first vttc working with a pair of 572b tubes (thanks to Steve Ward for his website).  Everything seems to work just fine except in my reading on these tubes they have had issues with flashovers and im worried about pushing the input past 90Vin. The plate voltage is 1250v and im thinking adding a doubler is a bad idea. All the schematics ive seen run the tubes in parallel. 

Is it possible to run the tubes in series with a diode before each tube and a seperate wire (also with a diode going the opposite way) coming off each anode?  One way in, one way out. Would this ease the load on each tube?  Im ok with the short answer if itpleases. Thank you.
