Just so. carbon core/resistive cables damp
rfi noise, to make radio reception easier.

would tend to concur. Seems the insulation is too low for
secondary, the losses/current ability too low for
primary.

I'd tend to think them not useful, esp if carbon core.
Maybe for metering?

true, story, marginally relevant. A friend got, used, a bunch
cables, with coax (PL-259) connectors. some worked, some not
and were tossed aside. Later, investigation showed the
'non working' ones were HV cable: the PL 259s were simply
used as a connector in some test rig.
