It may or may not be true, you can use any capacitor in an MMC as long
as the ratings are good. Before I get crucified for saying that,
there is more to consider than just capacitance and standoff voltage.
Using Java TC you can see all the parameters that are important
including but not limited too...
Standoff voltage
Peak Current,
RMS current
Temperature rise,
Capacitance
dielectric loss
reverse voltage
and many others...
The 942C is good, but properly designed so is the 940, you just need a
lot more to handle the current, which sort of offsets the savings in
cost... Do some digging in Java TC pay special attention to the
transformer design, and the java mmc. remember to give yourself some
current overhead, just like you would voltage, and your mmc will be
fine, even if you use something that is not CD series...
