Re: [TCML] Why air-core?



Hi Brent,
    I actually have plans to use it exactly how you describe.  I probably could use someone smarter than me to have a look at the circuit I designed to feed the primary of this lil beast, I have some big Hexfets on hand...don't have any IGBT's, but I think I can easily power the input and not get too complicated with it  lol.

Why not use this transformer to power a classical Tesla Coil??? At 20KHz,
even though it would take a very small primary cap, you'd have near-CW
operation!!! Sounds like you would need to make the 20KHz front-end driver
for the transformer though.

Would also make a killer Jacob's Ladder too!
