They are useful as kickback protection for a driver circuit when used in
parallel with the primary of a high voltage transformer. (flyback coil
for instance)

b05e be of any use in a TC, even of the most modest capability? I know
150 volts is a bit low but there are others with much higher voltage
ratings available, plus the tubes could theoretically be connected in
series for a greater breakdown voltage. Apart from that are there any
pitfalls to be wary of when using this kind of device?
