Re: [TCML] ***** My real tip for all coilers *****
Last week I got a request for a school performance with a card with "Please"
written many times front and back.
Unfortunately school performances have many challenges including the need
for darkness, safety, preventing interference and the need for public
liability insurance.
The other problem is that they take a day to arrange and only 30 kids get to
see the demo.
But there are millions of school kids out there and we should be thinking
bigger than just one classroom.
My last media appearance (Australia's Got Talent) was after all nothing to
do with "talent" - it was just a big science demo that 2 million people got
to watch.
The real message I would hope to convey is that science is cool and Tesla
coils are great for that.
The joint pain thing was probably a Violet Ray claim.

Everyone wants the biggest sparks - right?
My opinion: Don't think of a TC as just an exercise in getting the
longest sparks....
When my daughter's group did a Tesla project for high school physics
class, Peter's pictures with the rotating breakout point (the "car thief
protection, in particular") were extremely popular.
More so than my daughter's explanation of how the coil works, that's for
sure, and much more than me running a small 15/30 coil outside in the
daylight.. loud, but sparks are almost invisible.
And much more so than a bunch of unsubstantiated claims for reduction of
joint pain by being shocked by a tesla coil (I have no idea where they
found that stuff, and had to struggle to keep my mouth shut during the
presentation... I was there to run the coil afterwards, not comment on
the presentation)
