Re: [TCML] Will an audio sstc play the radio?

Another interesting thing you can do with an AM radio and a singing Tesla coil is to provide the singing Tesla coil audio input from a device such as an MP3 player or computer and then tune the AM radio until you can pick up the song you are playing on the Tesla coil.

You should be able to pick up the song on the radio even with out any electrical discharge from the coil (depending on the size of the coil and how far away your radio is).

So I guess this is the opposite of what you want to do. This is playing the SSTC with a radio, not playing the radio with an SSTC.

I have tried this on a SSTC with a resonant frequency of 60kHz. The music signal can be picked up at several different frequencies on a standard AM radio from at least 30 meters away. We did not find the maximum range which could be much further.

Have fun.

But that might be different for an audio sstc because it is higher frequency. If anyone has any advice on how to fix this issue, or knows if this will be an issue at all, please let me know. I need to figure this out before i spend $200 on this thing.thanks :)
FM radio is probably not much disturbed if the signal is strong. If there is excessive interference you can use an mp3 player playing a recording of the radio.
