 its far enough OT I'll refrain.  Those interested can
 find _technical_ish books on line.

 is one, albeit costly these days (I lucked onto a
 cheaper copy, years back).  Technical summary of knowledge
 to that that point, ca 1980.

Casual glance at AMAZON, etc, shows a couple of recentish,
technicalish possibilities.

There is at least on lightning group on yahoo.  Mostly
 stormchasers a couple of electron heads...
