Re: [TCML] OT high voltage DC power supply PLEASE HELP

Household ionic filters are powered by small flybacks, Ive torn apart
two so far.
Flybacks and kids (although it would be amusing to watch) do not sound
like a smart idea.
I recommend building Van de Graaff generators.
The voltages created are high enough to be impressive and entertaining
but they are also by nature a constant current device and always
remain well below safe current levels.
Mine is only two feet tall with a 12 inch sphere and I can draw well
over 12 inch sparks.
Not to mention the old hair standing on end thing is always fun.
A bunch of pretty cool experiments can be conducted with them as well.
There are multiple fields of engineering involved in their design and
construction; mechanical, electrical, physics, etc.
All of the parts are readily available and fairly inexpensive.
This link will tell you everything about their construction and operation,
