R in ohms, C in farads.
Or, more conveniently, R in Megohms, C in microfarads. (the 1E6 on one
cancels the 1E-6 on the other)
for the popular 0.2 uF or 0.15 uF caps in MMCs, 10 Meg gives you a time
constant of a couple seconds, so in 5 or 6 time constants, you're way,
way down, voltage wise.
And, 10 Meg doesn't dissipate huge power at 2kV (2E3*2E3/10E6 = 0.4 Watts)
