I wouldn't worry too much about the phosphor dust if you break the vacuum 
tit.  The gun assembly will difuse the air flowing into the CRT, so nothing 
more than a gentle breeze will touch the phosphors.  Tubes cracked at the 
neck will blow a spot into the phosphor.
