Re: [TCML] MMC *

Everything I've read and my plan is based on 2.5 times peak. That's way more than than 2 times rms. I'm using 12kV NST but my target pkV is 45kV. Can't go wrong designing on the high side anyway.

Be sure to put enough caps in series to get the voltage rating you need. I always play it safe and double the power supply. I like to have things pretty much bullet proof. I don't want to spend a lot of money only to have it go up in smoke.

I mount my caps side by side 1/4" space between each cap. Then I wire them together in series making sure there are no sharp pointed solder connections. Sharp needle points arc easy. Then I wire all the series strings in parallel with 1" space between each series string.

Subject: [TCML] MMC

Hi
My caps have arrived. (The freight was horrendous but I am blanking that out
of my mind and going to my happy place!)
I intend to make 4 strings of 12 942c series 0.15uF. In terms of
construction is it beetter to have the caps in a string of 12 arranged in a
straight line or zig zaging back and forth as I have seen some do?

Any thoughts?

Subject: [TCML] FOR SALE: 12.5 KVA 15,000 Volt Transformers & Saturable
Reactors

As I gear up for my move to Arizona, I'm in "lean out" mode.

I have 2 pristine custom wound power transformers 15KV @ 850 MA cont.
(around an amp and a half for short duty cycle). These came to me by way of
HV Wiz Bill "GOMEZ" Lemieaux. Oil filled (pcb free mineral oil) and tanked
in attractive compact stainless steel cans appx 18" cube. These are "Single
Horn" configured and have one side protruding HV bushing. These have no
internal shunts andrequire external ballasting (which I also have)

Asking $475 ea.

Saturable reactors are naked "core and coil" (for you to pot in a non
magnetic can if you choose). They are rated appx 12 kva and can operate
outside that realm for short duty cycles. Some have had good luck using
these to regulate current with their pig powered coils - others prefer a
simple variable iron core inductor (I have a few parts there too).

Asking $350 ea.

I can get appx 400 lbs shipped accross the country for under $190 - I will
charge you exactly what I pay for shipping - and wont charge to palletize
(If a crate is desired I will charge time and materials).

If someone wanted ALL the items above (2 transformers and 3 reactors I would
sell for a flat $1500).

I *may* consider a payment plan too

If interested either call me (801-604-5136)

...Thanks and Cheers!
