If you use an HDPE cutting board for your disk, you will definitely have
"flying electrodes", but not the way you want them. Holes in HDPE tend to
stretch under heat and G force causing things screwed into it to fly loose
rather quickly. I would recommend G10 or similar composite for your disk.
