Re: [TCML] Need new cap(s) for my coil
Hi Brandon,
In a word, No. Wiring the 4 caps in series divides the effective
capacitance by 4. you would need 4 strings in parallel of 4 caps each to have the
same total capacitance of 0.015 uF at 40KV. If the formula:
1/Ctot= 1/C1+1/C2+1/C3 +..... doesn't look familiar to you, then you really
need to get some more basic theory under your belt before proceeding.
Stay Safe,
Matt D.

I'm running a 15/30 NST. the recommended capacitor farad rating for that

(http://www.tedss.com/MPE11H-.015-10000-10/). Could I wire 4 of these in series
to get a total voltage rating of 40,000V ( 2.6 times the NST output
voltage) and still have a 0.015uF capacitance rating?
Thanks,
Brandon
