I can let you have 18 brand new MOV's, that are the ones specified
for the Terry Filter, for cheap. I bought them to build one and them
never did build it. I sold the neon transformer and used MOT's
instead.
Contact me off list.

Brandon -
A Terry filter should be used in conjunction with a safety gap.
You can get most of the protection offered by a Terry filter by
deleting the
MOVs and using only the basic R-C network.
Shopping on eBay, you should be able to get the required parts without
spending much more than $20.
The 1K, 100W resistors can be single 1K Ohm parts, a pair of
series-connected 500 Ohm resistors, or any combination of power
resistors
that will give a total resistance of "around" 1K Ohms.
Likewise, the bypass capacitors can be old 500pF, 20kV ceramic
"doorknobs",
or a string of film caps (a "MMC").

Subject: [TCML] Proper NST Protection
I've been running a half-dead NST on my coil it's entirenlife
without knowing it, and now's the time to deal with it... The pain
of buying a new one without the experience of blowing it up!
Pitiful... Anyways, to keep this new one on it's way in mint
condition, I need some form of protection. This calls for a safety
gap and/or a Terry filter. I'm nowhere close to being able to
afford the parts for one of those. So, will a safety gap across the
HV terminals be adequate enough protection for the new NST? Or do
I need to fork out another $60 (i dont have) on this thing?
