[TCML] Small VTTC Progress (update)

Still working on the 4-125A small VTTC,
I measured the spark length using a wooden rod placed
horizontally over the coil. This showed that the spark is
actually 7" long, not the 6" that I had estimated at first.

How I measure VTTC spark lengths:
A good way to measure VTTC spark lengths is by
placing a wooden rod horizontally above the coil.
Adjust the height position of the rod to measure the
spark length. Beware of positioning a metal rod or
large metal or foil plate over the coil for measuring the
spark length, this will cause the sparks to become longer,
so it will not give an accurate measurement. It's OK
to attach a small 1" x 4" piece of foil to the underside
of the wooden rod. With such foil in place, the spark
will cause a small sparkle to occur when it hits the foil,
thereby making it easier to count the "hits".

I measured the current input (wallplug) at 11.5A at
123VAC for 1415VA. So the coil is not particularly
efficient. Of course we know that an MOT run at
140VAC with shunts removed is not efficient in
general.

And here's a photo of the small VTTC. In the photo, the toroid is not
yet installed, and the wrong vacuum tube is installed. Scroll down a
little at the webpage to see the photo.

And from that website, there's a link to my main website.
