Re: [TCML] Bi-Polar coil construction plans/tips/etc ?

Dave,

I think it should be possible to get sparks longer than the secondary. To do this long arms would have to reach out high and wide above the horizontal secondary,
from each end.
Perhaps toroids would be needed on top of the arms to increase the spark
lengths. Breakout points may be needed also. It would become a monstrous
beast perhaps.

Probably an ordinary design of Bipolar can produce sparks a little longer than
the secondary anyway. My comments in the top paragraph apply to trying
to get even longer sparks.

Yes, secondary is wound all in one direction.

Cheers,
John

was thinkin' of building one.... prob 6" dia sec. are output sparks generaly limited to the length of the sec. , or less ? ....is the sec. wound in the same
direction ,from end to end ?,

would following plans from the 'High Frequency Apparatus' book be of any use
??

                         Thanks,dave :-)
