Re: [TCML] MOTS
The HV bushings are just hardware store PVC plumbing fittings glued in place with regular solvent glue. The AC power cable passed through a regular cable clamp like the ones used on household breaker boxes. It's leakproof as long as the can doesn't tip over. Not much danger of that due to the excessive weight of the thing. The only issue I ever had was that I allowed the power cable to dip down into the oil. Over time, the oil wicked up into the cable until it was saturated. I didn't catch it until oil started seeping out of the plug! I replaced the power cord and stripped the jacket back far enough so that it didn't touch the oil. That fixed it.
Unfortunately, this neat little PSU was sitting on my garage floor when Katrina came along. It was immersed in 2 feet of muddy, salty water. I threw it away in disgust, along with most of my furniture and appliances. I have some spare ammo cans however, and a small collection of MOTs. Perhaps I'll build another one someday.
