I wonder if the leads could be done as a twisted pair. GTO wire or something.
I used to use ACCEL Yellow Jacket 8mm spark plug wire with a 16AWG stranded
copper conductor. That had about a 90kV rating.I don't think you can get that
stuff any more, now with all the computers in race cars and such they use
a "helical core" which actually adds inductance to the wire.
