Re: [TCML] Best place to insert audio modulator

I'm not sure if anyone's managed to audio modulate a spark-gap TC with any success. It seems unlikely to me because the break rate is in the 200Hz region, and I think this dominates the spectrum of the sound produced by the coil. So any modulation overlayed on that ought to be limited to < 200Hz of bandwidth.

Most audio-modulated coils are solid-state or vacuum-tube devices which allow control over a much wider range of frequencies.

If I understand the theory of TC audio - we have to turn the coil on and off at specific frequencies. Where is the best place to insert the modulator - before or after the NST?
Am I right that some people have tried a PWM signal to create a "speaker" out of their tesla coils? Steve Stephen Hobley Photography

Secondary resonance looks like a shorted impedance, therefore current
draw will be maximum (brightest)
Primary resonance (parallel) looks like a high impedance, therefore
current draw will be minium (dimmest)

You really dont' need to build anything if you have an audio oscillator
(such as HP200) or other function / signal generator.

Tesla Tuner

Am I right that if we build this, then we set it on the secondary first
to get the brightest LED / lowest frequency - then apply it to the
primary and adjust the tap to get the same brightness on the LED?
