Re: [TCML] insulation
Douglas (I assume, as for some reason you don't sign your posts) -
Have you ever actually seen the core-and-coil assembly from a NST? I'm thinking that you may not have, or you would understand that there is literally no available space to install a "second" secondary winding on any sort of NST. Typically, there is less than 1/8" gap between the sides of the secondary winding and the steel core laminations, and this gap is usually filled with phenolic impregnated paper to prevend arcing from the seconadry windings to the core.
Take a look at the depotted NST core and coil shown on Ross Overstreet's Tesla coil website (http://www.rossoverstreet.org/tesla/projects/ac_coil/psu.html).
Click on the third picture to get an enlarged view of Ross' de-potted and de-shunted 12/60 NST. The center winding is the primary, and the two outboard coils are the secondaries. As you can see, there is no room anywhere for any additional windings of any sort.

OK ill try this again i had posted an earlier question about if i could modify an nst by making the core so as to except two secondaries in series on each side and what would the effects be.
one reply told me that i would have insulation problems.
i am curious as to what that means .
where would i have the problem? and can anyone out there help me with what material i could use to fix it. surely there is a way to get around it all things are possible.
it just seems logical that it would work in my humble opinion.
i cant be the only idiot out there that has thought of this.
hopefully this is more proper and will make it to the list.
