Dave, Scott, All,You KNOW what Freud would say, "It's TC envy"  ;^))Matt D-----Original Message-----From: David Rieben <drieben@xxxxxxxxxxx>To: Tesla Coil Mailing List <tesla@xxxxxxxxxx>Sent: Mon, 7 Jul 2008 10:10 pmSubject: [TCML] Psycology of coiling: was JavaTC Tuning Suggestion now a questionScot, all,  I've never really thought about the psycology of why we coilers like to make ever bigger sparks but I'd say the fireworks analogy is probably not too far off base. I suppose most of us are competitive to varying degrees and it gives one bragging rights to say "Guess how long of a spark my coil can make with only X kVA input?" Just like a pro golfer would boast proudly of shoot- ing under a 65 on 18 holes or a baseball player would boast if he batted an average of .600 for the season, ect. Guess this is starting to drift OT but does that make any sense?....  David  ----- Original Message ----- From: "bunnykiller" <bunnikillr@xxxxxxx> To: "Tesla Coil Mailing List" <tesla@xxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, July 07, 2008 6:29 PM Subject: [TCML] was JavaTC Tuning Suggestion now a question  > Just a thought... > > David brought up a reason why we do coiling in 1 aspect... > > My question is... > > how many of us ( as coilers who enjoy the streamer effect) really enjoy > the type of fireworks that are predominately hi altitude type displays??? > I wonder if the visual experience ( gratification) we get from > coiling is the same as firework displays, is there a correlation?? > > Scot D > > > > David Rieben wrote: > >> Hi Phillip, > > snipperzzz > >> Hey, longer sparks are pretty >> much what this hobby is all about to >90% of us, right? >> >> David Rieben >> > > _______________________________________________ > Tesla mailing list > Tesla@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx > http://www.pupman.com/mailman/listinfo/tesla _______________________________________________ Tesla mailing list Tesla@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.pupman.com/mailman/listinfo/tesla ;
