[TCML] Psycology of coiling: was JavaTC Tuning Suggestion now a question

Scot, all,

I've never really thought about the psycology of why we coilers like to make ever bigger sparks but I'd say the
fireworks analogy is probably not too far off base. I
suppose most of us are competitive to varying degrees and it gives one bragging rights to say "Guess how long of a spark my coil can make with only X kVA input?" Just like a pro golfer would boast proudly of shoot- ing under a 65 on 18 holes or a baseball player would boast if he batted an average of .600 for the season, ect. Guess this is starting to drift OT but does that make any sense?....

Just a thought...

David brought up a reason why we do coiling in 1 aspect...

My question is...

how many of us ( as coilers who enjoy the streamer effect) really enjoy the type of fireworks that are predominately hi altitude type displays??? I wonder if the visual experience ( gratification) we get from coiling is the same as firework displays, is there a correlation??

Hey, longer sparks are pretty
much what this hobby is all about to >90% of us, right?
