Persistence of the glow from phosphors in fluorescent bulbs can last
several minutes as well.

I guess it's worth revisiting that years ago I got a fluorescent bulb to
flash when I touched it, after I had drawn topload arcs through my body and
*after* the coil had been turned off. Passing the bulb to other people who
had been in close proximity to the running coil had no effect, but it still
flashed when they gave it back to me. Unfortunately, it's an experiment that
nobody should duplicate, so I wonder if we'll ever know what was really going
on. Maybe one day I'll see if I can electrify a steak or a bag of Jello and get
the same effect.
