Re: [TCML] Tesla and Mercury poisoning
Mercury poisoning, (Pink's disease, mad hatter's disease) causes
neurological symptoms. Insidious onset, nonspecific signs and symptoms.
From eMedicine

The classic triad found in chronic toxicity is tremors, gingivitis, and
erethism (ie, a constellation of neuropsychiatric findings that includes
insomnia, shyness, memory loss, emotional instability, depression, anorexia,
vasomotor disturbance, uncontrolled perspiration, and blushing).
a.. Additional findings may include headache, visual disturbance (eg, tunnel
vision), peripheral neuropathy, salivation, insomnia, and ataxia.
a.. Without a complete history, mercury toxicity, especially in elderly
individuals, can be misdiagnosed as Parkinson disease, senile dementia,
metabolic encephalopathy, depression, or Alzheimer disease.
Did someone mention Tesla was a bit eccentric in his later years?
Not my idea of course.

... And to complicate more, Tesla did a lot of clever tricks on top of it
all, like using mercury in place of frictional brushes/etc...
He had a way of taking a heavy cast iron cylinder filled with mercury and
making it spin effortlessly, and efficiently!
