Re: [TCML] Sec design trade-offs and considerations
And there is a single turn roughly the size described.

Finn,
There are 2 circuits with in effect 2 tanks caps, one does the work
1,000uF which is discharged into 10nF 1uH primary, about 2mhz. the
1,000uf just supplys the current, really there are 2 tank circuits in
operation.

In the "good old days of spark" hams had a minimum allowed
operating wavelength of 200 meters [~1500 kHz] and the the limit to the
power they were able to run, law or not, was the physical size of the
single-turn tank inductor which would resonate with the maximum useful
primary capacitane of 0.01 ufd and the practical upper limit of primary
voltage to about 25 kV [some guys used pole pigs even in those days] set
their power. Primary was invariably a single turn of wide copper ribbon
and it and the capacitor were connected to the spark gap [rotary for
those who could afford it] with the shortest possible leads.
