Re: [TCML] Primary

Hi, It's a little late now to try what I'm going to suggest but maybe next time... First off my primary forms are made from heavily sealed wood ( it's pretty easy to work with as well as easy to come by!). It doesent really matter how you design the form just be sure to leave access for your primary tap.I've built a primaries similar to the design you've chosen and I've also built my primary on a huge wooden disk with cutouts for the tap at various places around the diameter. So, lets say you were to go with a form like the one you've already built ( same basic design, just cut from wood pieces). Now, where you are using the drilled PVC and ty-wraps, you would fasten your tubing with small coaxial cable tacks (they sell these at Home Depot for a few bucks @ 100 or something). The first turn is kind of a pain until you get a couple tacks in it but after that its smooth sailing. As you are winding simply use one of the tacks with the small nail pulled out as a spacer to perfect
ly space each turn as you go. I should note that this only works with the smaller sized tubing and you may have to use something else as a test spacer if you want a larger spacing between turns. Works really good and the result is a pretty much pefectly spaced coil with a nicely finished look to it if you take the time to line the tacks up nice and straight along the from supports. Some may suggest that the small nails may present a problem with arcing etc. but I've experienced no problems yet with many hours on the primaries I've built this way. Wyatt
