Hello,

My Radar transformer is in one unit and is three phase. Take a looking at
Richie's schematic again. Mine has a 208v wye input. You may want to read
Richie's section on **** DC resonant charging**** as 4-10KV is a bit low.
With de-queing diodes the output voltage effectively doubles. Ballast may
not be needed if you use an ASRG. If you look at Richie's charging equations
( the last 2 in the section) the output power increases with the RPM of the
ASRG. A triple stack of variacs (3p) of adequate rating can be used to ramp
up the input voltage but may be not required. You can not run the ASRG too
slow however.

Finding a charging inductor or making one will be a challenging project that
we would be interested in, ideas anyone?

My Radar PSU has a big one in the tank and outputs 28KVDC with 3p 60hz
208v/y input and (6) 8020 vacuum tubes for the 6 pulse rectification - quite
Frankenstein-ish.

Please post a picture of your 3p transformer, it sounds interesting and
beast like!

Really good site!
In the 6 pulse design there are 3 separate transformers used, but I am
going to have one 3phase unit. Is there a difference about it? I am
almost sure that it's not going to be any zigzag or smth. In Lithuania
there are usually 10kV to 0,4kV
3 phase transformers with 120deg angle between phases. I dont know what
other configurations might be.

What about a ballast for it?
