    The calculation involves speed of light & earth
    radius/diameter/circumference.
    Dates to 1890ish or earlier.
    (I've a book of that date: Speed of light was estimated,
     refined later.)

    The 'nearby' Schumann Resonance is likely the same thing,
    adjusted for real world.  Can be observed with the right
    equipment: Tesla may have done so...
