Yes, I had the same problem with my Ol' 8"
coil,..if I added extra gaps in addition to the
two gap rotary, it would not run right, I had to
use the rotary only, and then adjust to the
absolute min. spacing! ,(there is a video of that
coil running on an old R. Hull tape, I named it
'Tempest') maybe I need a larger dia. disk
?,...the eight spinning electrodes are 7" point
to point , not sure on RPM, i use a 12v heater
blower motor but feed it up to 24v, this was my junk box rotary :-)
