How about an RCS-1000 YAG PSU?

It's 17" x 6" x 6", weighs in at 17 pounds, cranks out
up to 34 kVDC at 1 kJ/sec, and runs off of 200 - 240
VAC.
1 kJ/sec is about an order of magnitude too small.. 10kW = 10kJ/sec
I worked with one of the Maxwell labs charging supplies a few years
ago. It was in that category, but it wouldn't have worked for a
tesla coil. If you shorted the output, it tripped internal
protection, and shut down, requiring a reset.
But that IS the right idea. I'm thinking of a purpose designed DC
charging supply.
