On Rich's comment: A single-phase PT with a 208V
output would be extremely odd. As Jim says below,
this is a three-phase "Y" or "wye" voltage. On
nameplates where you see stuff like "120/208Y" or
"7200/12470Y", just pretend the second number is not
there. For a TCer's purposes, it's almost always
totally meaningless, as it implies multiple
transformers and a three-phase power source. I *have*
seen *control* transformers with 208V *input* before,
but in the realm of control transformers almost
anything goes :-)
On Jim's comment: 5kVA is a BIGGG PT!! I've seen PTs
in cylindrical cans like pole pigs, but still only
3kVA or less. I would love to see what your 5kVA unit
looks like! Last month I picked up some older
Westinghouse 3kVA units in metal oil-filled cubes with
oil-filled bushings. They weigh about 450lbs each,
making them heavier than my 15kVA pig! But they do
*look* very, very sinister >:-))
