They pot them for a reason. Most unpot them for a reason...either to fix a carbon track in the tar or a burnt winding...or to hot rod them by removing some shunts. I would definitely repot them or better yet, immerse them in oil.

I'd appreciate some advice on this. Once an NST has been unpotted,
does it need to be repotted to safely run it? Or can it be run dry
without being immersed in any potting material - i.e., just the bare
