Hi Tim,

I've heard no good reason for not doing it myself. We've had numerous 
discussions in the past on this subject. The bottom line for me is to 
simply keep the primary inner turn at the same potential as the bottom 
secondary turn as they are usually both in near proximity. A second 
reason is that I have only 1 hv wire to run out to the tank circuit of 
the coil. Those are the only two advantages I can think of.

What is different is "assuming" that there is a good RF ground 
connection and stepping on top of the RF ground cable running to the pig 
("and assumption is the mother of all .......). So there is a safety 
concern from that stand point that should be understood. A deadman 
switch is also very important to me for a pig coil (my humble opinion).
