The rule of thumb for the height of the elevated terminal of a Tesla coil RF transmitter is 1.5 times the height of the helical resonator with the height-to-diameter ratio being approximately 9.15:1. Increasing the height-to-diameter ratio allows the spacing between the top turn and the terminal to be reduced, eventually reaching the point where the resonator is "extended up to the terminal." Hi everybody,
A quick question, is there any rule of thumb for determining the proper height of your top load (toroids) from the top windings of your secondary? It seems to make a differance in performance, but is there a way to determine the optimum height (other than by sheer experimentation of course!). Thanks.
