Mutual Inductance And Wire Length
For two coaxial close packed coils the mutual inductance (M) in
units of Henry is written as M = pi u N1 N2 (R2)sqrd / 2
(R1) (where R1 is significantly greater then R2)
Multiplying the numerator and denominator by 4pi N2 N1 and
regrouping we get:
M = u (wire length 2)sqrd (N1)sqrd / 4 (wire length 1) N2
This formulae should provide a close approximation for the mutual
inductance of a loosely coupled primary around the secondary of a
"closely packed" half wave coil.
