Hello Curt, all.

I am not really a expert on pigs,
as we do not have such transformer where I
live. But I too suspect, that a faul is more likely
to occour on the outer ending of the HV winding or
on the connection to the bushings. Changing the tap
might be a good idea, but i doubt it would help a lot,
unless you electricaly disconnect the defective rest of
the winding. But this is probably possible.
After all, I would not trash the pig until I tried everything.
If you drain the oil into another container and let the core
sit for a few days the oil mess is not that big.
