Re: Source of optical fiber

This is what I was talking about on Ebay... as Terry says, the glut on these is amazing (I suppose from all of the dot-bombs). I built and ran a datacenter in Atlanta at my last job. It was a 2000-square-foot section of a 50,000-square-foot former datacenter of an ISP. The contractors just cut cables and dropped in the new walls without clearing the old stuff out from under the raised floor. When I went in to install my equipment, I found MILES of cable of all types there for the taking. I asked building management if I could pillage the rest of the old datacenter. They said "sure", and I inherited a full digital video security system with 12 cameras, hundreds of feet of power cable, and more fiber than I know what to do with. The Cat5 went in the trash because it wasn't worth taking back with me.

Can you use fiber optic patch cables?
