Curt,
I suppose you could say either the top, bottom,
or center of the primary tubing of the primary coil,
assuming that it is a flat spiral "watch spring" style
primary coil. "I" personally refer to the top surface
of the primary coil tubing in reference to the bot-
tom-most winding of the secondary coil.

What do you mean by horizontal plane of the primary,
the plane of the base or at the top?
