While the circuit I posted previously, 
http://hot-streamer/temp/tch-synctest2.jpg, worked in simulation, it 
didn't want to work in the hardware.  So here's an improvement that 
does: http://hot-streamer/temp/tch-synctest4a.jpg.

So far, tho, no sparks: I now have to saw apart my drive electronics and 
shield the low-level part.  That's something that I learned the hard way 
"way back when" but then forgot...dummy that I am.
