Unfortunately, most of the books that are specifically about Tesla
Coils are fairly outdated. However, there is a wealth of information
in the archives of the Pupman Tesla List:

The Tesla Coil Builders Association News (unfortunately no longer
published, but copies are available directly through Harry Goldman)

Of course, I'd also suggest a few of the classics by, or about,
Tesla and his inventions in order to gain more insights into Tesla
Coil history:
"The Inventions, Researches, and Writings of Nikola Tesla" by Thomas
C. Martin, reprinted in 1990 by Barnes and Noble, 496 pages, ISBN 088029812X.
"My Inventions" by Nikola Tesla, reprinted in 1995 by Barnes and
Noble, 111 pages, ISBN 0760700850.
"The Complete Patents of Nikola Tesla" by Glenn, Barnes and Noble,
1994, 521 pages, ISBN 1566192668.
A wealth of other Tesla and Tesla Coil construction books can be

Regarding High Voltage books, it depends on how serious you want to
delve into the topic. Beginning hobbyist "project" books include
books by R. A. Ford, Walt Noon, Todd Pringle, and George Trinkaus.

However, if you want to gain considerably more knowledge about high
voltage engineering and are not intimidated by some math, then here
are a couple of very affordable but very comprehensive titles
covering high voltage engineering (published in India):
"High Voltage Engineering" by Wadhwa, 1994, ISBN 8122406130, soft
cover textbook, 281 pages. Seven chapters cover breakdown mechanisms
of gases, liquids, and solids, generation of high AC and DC
voltages, generation of impulse voltages and currents, measurement
of high voltages and currents, high voltage testing of electrical
equipment, non-destructive insulation test techniques, and
transients in power systems and insulation coordination. Excellent
value for the price!
"High Voltage Insulation Engineering" by Arora, 1995, ISBN
812240619X, hardcover, 290 pages. Focuses on the behavior,
properties, and engineering application of gaseous, liquid, and
solid dielectrics in high voltage applications. Contains five
chapters covering electrostatic fields, their control and
estimation, behavior of air and other gaseous dielectrics in
electric fields, electrical properties of vacuum as high voltage
insulation, liquid dielectrics in high voltage applications, and
solid dielectrics and their behavior in electric fields. Great value
for the price.
Here are a few other reasonably priced titles (typically in the
$10-35 range on the used book market):
"High Voltage Engineering Fundamentals" by Kuffel and Zaengl, 1984,
ISBN 008024212X (soft cover) or 0080242138 (hardcover), 498 pages.
This is a very comprehensive title that focuses primarily on the
practical aspects of high voltage generation and power transmission.
Its seven chapters include generation and transmission of electric
energy, generation of high voltages (AC, DC, impulse voltages and
currents), Measurement of high voltages, electrostatic fields and
field stress control, electrical breakdown of gases, liquids and
