C170 Copper - Beryllium Copper Alloy

Hey guys,

As some of you will recall, I built my large coil's primary from bronze
weather-stripping based on Terry Blake's design. I'm noticing the issues
that several list members warned me about. The extra resistance of the
bronze is causing it to get rather hot. This is in turn causing the foam
tape used as a winding spacer to melt, not to mention the energy being lost
to it.

I ordered some copper ribbon to replace the bronze but when I received it, I
noticed it had a gold color similar to the bronze I already had. I called
the seller and asked about it and he told me that it was actually an alloy
known as C170 copper which is a Beryllium Copper Alloy. He offered to allow
me to return it if needed.

What do you think about this alloy? Anyone using it? Should I return it and
look for 100% copper?

Thanks,
Cameron
